Kirkby stabbing: Woman dies in Liverpool's Brambles pub car park; probe underway

Merseyside police launched a murder investigation after a woman in her 50s was stabbed at the Brambles pub in Kirkby. As the probe continues, two men have been arrested in the case.

At the Brambles pub on Cherryfield Drive, the woman was stabbed in her chest shortly after 8 pm on Monday. She died moments after she was rushed to the hospital. During the same incident, a man in his 30s was also stabbed.

An investigation is in progress, witness, forensic and CCTV checks have already been carried out. The crime scene is maintained as it was for another search this morning.


On Monday night at around 8:10 pm, police received a call after reports of a fight on Cherryfield Drive at the Brambles pub.

When police reached the scene, they found the woman at a pub car park stabbed in her chest and was rushed to hospital in serious condition.

The man in his 30s suffered injuries in his arm and body. He was also taken to the hospital to be treated for the puncture wounds.



Laura Lamping, the detective inspector, said that the incident could result from an “altercation that started inside the premises, carried outside."

They have taken two people in custody amid the ongoing inquiries. The inspector asked people in the proximity of Cherryfield Drive to contact them if they “saw or heard anything or has any information” that could assist the investigation.

A man turned away from the crime scene by the police reportedly told a reporter that he was “shocked” and wondered, “What kind of a world are we living in?”

In a house on Kingsheath Avenue, Dovecot, a girl of 9 years was shot dead last night. During the incident, a woman suffered a gunshot injury to her hand, and also, a man suffered a gunshot wound to his body.

Moreover, a woman named Ashley Dale, 28 died of gunshot wounds at the weekend in Old Swan. Police confirmed the attack on the address as targeted, but the deceased woman was not the intended one.
