In the special episode that will soon air on television, the team of The Repair Shop, specialising in repairing things beyond repair, which includes a furniture restorer, a ceramics expert, and a horologist, were invited by King Charles III to Dumfries House. He will likely send two historical items, including an 18th-century bracket clock, for restoration.

During the episode, the King gave the show’s team a tour of the estate, met skilled artisans, and learned traditional skills like blacksmithing, stonemasonry, and wood carving. Recalling the time spent with the monarch, Jay Blades, the host, said that he’s amused to see two people, one from a council estate and another from a royal estate, having a mutual liking for heritage crafts and apprenticeships.
