The coronation plan for King Charles III is yet to be finalised. The Cultural Secretary, Michelle Donelan, clarified on Tuesday. She added that the nation has just finished a period of national mourning, and so far, there have been no opportunities to focus on other critical issues.

Secretary Donelan added that the decision on a major event like the coronation of the new King needs to be taken after considering several factors. The Cultural Secretary also reminded us that the palace and the king's input must be carefully considered.

Traditions to be followed

Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday, September 8 and was laid to rest on Monday, September 19. The royal family stood with King Charles in silence for the hour-long private burial service held in Windsor Castle’s King George VI Memorial Chapel. As per tradition, the official coronation should happen only after a sufficient time of mourning.

People's assistance

There are opinions that the coronation could be delayed as the country is currently negotiating a high cost of living crisis. However, the official maintained that tradition would demand a sufficient time gap after the death of the Queen. Therefore, good planning time will be available for organizing the event.
