King Charles III’s cousin Earl of Snowdon quits his furniture business after 4 decades

David Linley, the famous furniture designer and maker, quit the company he had started forty years ago. Linley's leaving his own business surprised everyone, mainly because the gentleman had illustrious clients, such as singers and designers who, in their day, made news including Jagger and Elton John.

But, on Friday, Liney stepped down as director of three businesses - David Linley Holdings, David Linley & Co and David Linley Furniture according to Companies House.

The announcement was made on Friday that Linley had left all businesses together. His company’s unique designs caught fame, especially the mirrors with metallic triangles embossed on the sides. The "Nelson Chair", or the dining chair, is so classy in appearance and feel. No wonder the man was highly rated, and they commanded a reasonable price for the wealthy.




David Linley Holdings did suffer a loss during the pandemic but recovered with a net profit of £171,000. The losses were also huge and were in the vicinity of 4 million pounds, and that is what probably made him leave the business, but it is not sure. The reason for his quitting at this stage of his business has not been reported yet. At 61, the Earl of Snowdon, his title, just decided to walk away.

Before starting the business, a Prime Minister once had asked Linley's mother why her son became a carpenter, and his mother said that Jesus too was a carpenter.

As of date, the Earl of Snowdon is 24th in line to the throne, and the first in line among those who are not the direct descendants of Queen Elizabeth II.
