June 2023 will mark the 70th anniversary of the coronation of late Queen Elizabeth II, whose funeral was held on Monday, where she was laid to rest. King Charles III flew to the Scottish Highlands to convalesce and grieve the death of his mother.

Planning for the Upcoming Coronation Commences

Two days after the Queen’s emotional state funeral, planning and preparations have already begun for King Charles III’s coronation in the upcoming spring. This would be Britain’s first coronation after 70 years. The last coronation was of Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles III’s coronation service would be smaller, shorter and less expensive than Elizabeth’s 1953 coronation. The coronation will not take place this year by any chance.

Until the following Monday, the Royal Family will stay in official royal mourning. However, everyone’s aware that the preferred time of the coronation is next year, either in May or June.

After the Queen’s burial on Monday, King Charles III flew with Camilla, the Queen Consort, to Balmoral, and he will rest there for some tim as the last 11 days have been highly tiring for him. During the royal mourning, no formal engagement will happen, and Charles III will embark on his first trip after the coronation in the autumn.
