For the late Monarch's final trip from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall in Parliament and for the historic four-day laying-in-state, which saw hundreds of mourners line up for miles to say their goodbyes, the Imperial State Crown was affixed to the casket in London.

The rarely seen St. Edward's Crown will be placed on the King's head at the Coronation by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Crown of Queen Elizabeth, the most recent of the four crowns and one that was constructed for the late Queen mother in 1937, will be worn by the Queen Consort Camilla Parker.


All of these are getting resized to fit the new Monarch.


The circlets on the crown may need to be enlarged significantly and additional stones will be added—the opposite of what was done to make them smaller for the late Queen.

The present crown designer, Mark Appleby of Mappin & Webb, would be expected to handle any adjustment work.

The Imperial State Crown may require more reworking because the late Queen had its arches reduced in size to give the crown a more feminine appearance.
