This meeting only happens when any monarch dies. The Accession Council comprises Privy Counsellors, Realm High Commissioners, Great Officers of State, the Lord Mayor of London and senior civil servants.

The meeting is done to formally declare that the heir to the throne will be the next monarch.

It will take place in London at St. James Palace. For the first time in history, this meeting will be telecasted live at 10 in the morning (London Time) on September 10.
