King Charles III celebrates 74th birthday, marking his first as monarch

King Charles III became the King of Great Britain after the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and today he celebrates his first Birthday as monarch. True to tradition, during the changing of the guard ceremony in Buckingham Palace, the Household Cavalry band will play Happy Birthday in honor of the King.

Gun salutes and band performances will mark the King's birthday all over the city. The "King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery", "Band of the Scots Guards" and the "Honourable Artillery Company will either play Happy birthday or boom their guns in honour of the King.

"Trooping the Colour" is held in June each year and is generally on the first Saturday of the month. However, this year the event was held on June 2nd, Thursday, to coincide with Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953.



So next year, King Charles will be crowned King along with Queen Consort Camilla, and it will be seen when the King announces his official Birthday.

Traditionally all the kings and queens marked their official Birthday with "Trooping the Colour", which is generally held on the first Saturday. Britishers generally mark that day watching the royal parade if they are in London and the footage is beamed on television across the world. In the evening, Britishers visit their favourite pubs to celebrate that particular day.
