The monarch disclosed that a new documentary on Camilla, 77, called Her Majesty the Queen: Behind Closed Doors, was the source of his tears during a reception held at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday before the premiere of Gladiator II, as quoted in a report by The New York Post.
Speaking to guests at the event honouring the Film and TV Charity, Charles, who turned 76 on Thursday, discussed the 90-minute film, which showcases the Queen's efforts to increase awareness about sexual and domestic violence.
Actor Damian Lewis, 53, said he had seen the documentary and that Charles told him, "I think BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) are interested in it, according to the Telegraph.

The documentary's director, Kerene Barefield, and producer, Naveed Chowdhary-Flatt, were also interviewed by the king, who admitted that he was moved to tears after seeing a sneak peek of the movie while in Scotland.
During the reception, Charles also engaged in some more informal discussions about other TV and movie projects. While speaking with Lewis, who plays King Henry VIII in the recently broadcast BBC series Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light, the actor made a joke with the monarch, stating, At least you can purport not to be related to him.
He also chatted with actor Joseph Fiennes and asked for recommendations on what he should add to his watch list.
The Buckingham Palace reception took place ahead of Wednesday's star-studded Gladiator II premiere in London's Leicester Square. Camilla skipped the premiere due to her ongoing recovery from a recent chest infection, which also kept her from attending Remembrance Day events.
