Judd Trump battled to rediscover his best form behind the Rockets' 6-1 lead. However, he came alive in the eighth frame, knocking in a remarkable maximum to the delight of the packed audience in Boston. O'Sullivan, unlike the audience, remained seated while Trump celebrated the maximum break, which is rare in these circumstances.
Normally, following a 147, the opponent would give a handshake or a fist bump, but there was no such gesture with the world champion remaining seated. Trump, on the other hand, didn't appear to mind, as he rebounded to win the next and last frame of the session, finishing the day 6-3 down but still very much in the match.

It was world number 11 Yan's first major title and he is just a year older than Ronnie O'Sullivan was in 1995 when he won the Masters at 19, also beating Higgins.
