Renowned actor John Nettleton has passed away. He was 94, the actor's representatives have confirmed. Nettleton portrayed the character Sir Arnold Robinson in the political satire series as well as its sequel, Yes, Prime Minister, during the 1980s. John Nettleton was born on February 5, 1929, in London. Apart from his memorable role in Yes Minister, he also appeared as a Conservative Member of Parliament in the British sitcom The New Statesman. Nettleton's television credits include appearances in detective dramas such as Midsomer Murders and Foyle's War, as well as the long-running medical series Casualty. He showcased his talent in comedy dramas like Kingdom and Brass, and he starred in the 1987 television film East Of Ipswich, written by Sir Michael Palin.


Throughout his illustrious career, Nettleton delivered exceptional performances in renowned productions such as Upstairs, Downstairs, the 1981 series of Brideshead Revisited alongside Jeremy Irons and Anthony Andrews, and The Citadel. Additionally, he was known to the viewers of the popular children's show Blue Peter in the 1960s and 1970s, where he narrated various illustrated stories, often centered around historical figures like Florence Nightingale.
