UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said Thursday’s message from the Russian President Vladimir Putin was “unclear, untrue, and unedifying”. According to Cleverly, the aggressor country should be condemned for attacking its neighbours, UK Foreign Secretary said that Ukraine's fight for democracy and peace would be supported.

Vladimir Putin warned that the world is facing "probably the most dangerous" decade since the end of World War II. He explained that the Western world's undivided dominance over world affairs was ending. Vladimir Putin’s address came amid fears that Moscow may turn to nuclear weapons to gain ground in Ukraine as it struggles to make developments. Vladimir Putin said Russia had only responded to the West, not threatened nuclear war.

Further defending his actions, Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s move was only in response to the statements Western leaders have made. The Russian President stated that he had never actively commented on the chance of Russia using nuclear weapons in the future. Putin even pointed to Liz Truss, the former UK prime minister and said, “In her [Liz Truss] conversation with a representative of the media, she said that the UK is a nuclear power and the prime minister has, in their mandate, the possible use of nuclear weapons.”
