Jackie Stewart expresses grief over demise of Queen

On Tuesday's "Good Morning Britain" broadcast, Sir Jackie Stewart spoke with hosts Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard about his friendship with the late Queen. He just used kind words when he declared that there would never be another person like her.

In his remarks to the ITV presenters last week following the demise of his mother, Jackie mentioned King Charles' message to the nation.

The long-time friend and former race car driver of Queen Elizabeth II hailed her entry, calling it 'wonderful'.


Stewart's Friendship with the Queen
Jackie told Ben and Susanna that the Queen was a lovely companion and an exceptional person, and they had plans to meet this month.

The 83-year-old claimed it was the worst thing to happen to him and had had a significant impact on him.
He also recalled the deaths of 57 of his close friends who were racing drivers and died in crashes until he took action to make motorsports safer.

He lamented that he would never have another friend like the Queen, but he also cherished the thought of having one.

Memories of Stewart with the Late Queen
Stewart discussed how admirably the Royal family represents the country. Most people, however, are unaware of its importance or how vital a monarchy is at this time.
After meeting Princess Anne at the 1971 Sports Personality of the Year Awards, Stewart developed a friendship with the Queen.

He also recalled a time when, despite being a Formula One champion, the Queen forbade him from driving while they were filming at Sandringham and heading to a BBQ. He said with a smile that Queen Elizabeth II had told him she could use him to direct her to the BBQ location.

He praised the Queen's driving prowess and claimed that Princess Anne shares them, implying that it must run in the family.

Transport of the Queen's Remains to Buckingham Palace

Her Majesty's corpse would be flown by the Royal Air Force from Edinburgh, Scotland, to RAF Northolt.

Princess Anne will accompany the Queen's coffin as it is transported to Buckingham Palace and laid to rest in the Bow Room.

The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery will move the coffin from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster on September 14, according to information on the palace website. The Queen will remain in state at Westminster Hall until the State Funeral.
