House of Dragon Episode 9: Recap, review and all you may want to know

House of the Dragon's ninth episode has been released. The Hightowers' scheme to displace Princess Rhaenyra as the heir to the Iron Throne comes into focus in the penultimate episode of the first season of House of the Dragon.

After finding the body of King Viserys, Queen Alicent consults her father, Otto Hightower, for advice. She informs him about her final exchange with Viserys, during which she misunderstood his final wishes and believed he wanted their first-born son, Prince Aegon, to succeed him as king.




When the small council meets in an emergency, Alicent and Otto give the news of Viserys's passing and his purported final wish. To Alicent's amazement, several council members immediately embrace Aegon's accession to the Iron Throne.

When Alicent enquires about Rhaenyra and her family's fate, Otto responds that the princess will have the chance to kneel before the new King Aegon II. However, Alicent is aware that Rhaenyra will never do so.



Following their contentious meeting, Alicent and Otto parted ways with different goals in search of Aegon. Otto sent twins Ser Arryk and Ser Erryk, two knights, to find Aegon once it is discovered that he has left the Red Keep.

In exchange for Otto's assurance that the children's death hole will be closed under the rule of the new king, Mysaria, who has been hiding Aegon, gives up his whereabouts. Alicent requests Rhaenys' assistance for Aegon's throne aspirations.
There is a battle to be fought to gain control of Westeros.
