Here's how to get additional benefit payments in December; what you can expect and who is eligible

As the United Kingdom is battling rising inflation, people may face a difficult winter this year. The rate of inflation in the UK has touched the mark of 11.1 percent, pushing the prices of commodities up. Recently, the British government led by newly-appointed Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also announced spending cuts of £30 billion and a package of tax rises worth £24 billion.

However, the government has also planned to provide more cost-of-living help to people in the coming weeks. Here is a list for you to know what to expect.

Energy Discount Payment

The government has announced that each household will receive a £400 energy bill discount. The decision aims to ease the burden people are facing due to the rising energy bills.

Pensioner's Cost of Living Payment

Older people receiving Winter Fuel Payments (WFP) will get an additional £300. Some of this amount was paid in November, and the rest will be paid this month.

Cold Weather Payment Scheme

The scheme was restarted on November 1 and will continue until March 31, 2023. Under this scheme, low-income people will receive £25 every seven days when the temperature becomes sub-zero.

Warm Home Discount Scheme

The scheme will grant £150 to eligible recipients. It would run until March 31.

DWP Christmas Bonus

The DWP will provide households with a £10 Christmas bonus.

Scottish Child Payment Bridging Payment

Under this scheme, low-income households having children who get free school meals will receive £260.
