Heartbreak for Gary Speed's widow as her new spouse Quinton Bird dies following fight with cancer

Quinton Bird, a real estate developer, helped Louise fall in love once more. The two got married in December 2021, but he tragically passed away two years later battling brain cancer.

Louise Speed, the widow of Gary Speed, unexpectedly loss her new husband Quinton Bird, from brain cancer after a courageous two-year battle. Ten years after the passing of the former “Leeds and Newcastle” star Gary, Louise fell in love with 53-year-old Quinton Bird, and the two got married in December 2021.

Mother-of-two Louise and Bird had been partners in business for six years. They were both directors of Chester's prosperous Bow Property Development, which specialises in new construction and renovations.

Just before Christmas 2021, Gary's close friend and former teammate, former Newcastle and England striker Alan Shearer, officiated at the couple's wedding at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire.


Tragically, Bird lost his battle with an aggressive brain cancer last year after two years of suffering from it. His father, Roy paid a beautiful homage to him by expressing how heartbroken he was to lose his son at such a young age. He said that Quinton was a fantastic father and left a legacy of wonderful and unforgettable memories for the entire family.

Gary took his own life in November 2011 at 42, leaving Louise to deal with her loneliness. Mr Bird, a father of three, had assisted Louise in overcoming her loneliness. When Gary and Louise went on their first date in the 1980s, they were barely 15.
