Hawkwind co-founder Nik Turner passes away at 82, read here

Co-founder of the British space-rock band Hawkwind and English musician, Nik Turner, has passed away at the age of 82. He was a multi-instrumentalist for the band. The news of his demise was made public by Turner's spokesperson on Facebook. The Facebook post stated that ‘Nik Turner - The Mighty Thunder Rider’ had died peacefully at his home on November 10.

Nicholas Robert Turner, popularly known as Nik Turner, was born in 1940 in Oxford. He got exposure to the rock genre of music after he shifted to Margate town in Kent at the age of 13. Turner learnt saxophone and started considering performing free jazz after reaching Berlin. In 1999, Turner told Mojo that he had decided to play free jazz in a rock band.
Turner was a friend of Dave Brock, who, along with John Harrison, Mick Slattery, and Terry Ollis, formed Hawkwind. After the Hawkwind's formation, Turner joined the band as a roadie. His involvement with the band increased as a saxophonist and flautist, and he became an official member of Hawkwind. Later, he wrote music tracks like ‘Master of the Universe’ and ‘Brainstorm’ for the band. Turner left ‘Hawkwind’ in 1976 but rejoined the band in 1982, only to leave it again in 1984. It was during his departure from the band that Turner got inspired to record flute.
