Hakim Ziyech to stay at Chelsea as transfer to Paris St Germain gets stalled. See what happened

Hakim Ziyech will not be able to move from Chelsea to Paris St Germain as the transfer has been blocked by the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the governing body of France, media reports said.

The deal for Ziyech’s transfer was stalled as the documents were not filed in time, the reports added.

Although a loan between the two clubs was agreed before Tuesday’s deadline, the PSG have been told that the league was not informed in time for the transfer to be completed.


The 29-year-old player was to travel to Paris to complete the deal. On Wednesday morning, an appeal by the Ligue 1 champions was rejected by the LFP.

Ziyech has played 10 times in the Premier League this season and four times since returning from helping Morocco to finish fourth at the World Cup 2022 table. He will have to remain at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the campaign.


Since the league resumed at the end of December, Chelsea’s campaign has been marred by an injury crisis. At one point of time, around 10 players were unavailable for manager Graham Potter.

In the January transfer window, around £318 million were spent by the club on eight new recruits. This means that the Moroccan player’s chances to play are likely to be limited when the injured footballers start to return.
