Popular American rock band Green Day's lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong surprised a band in London when he joined them while they were crooning his band’s cover.

The band Borderline Toxic was singing on stage at an Islington pub when Billie Joe Armstrong joined them on stage!

Borderline Toxic were performing the popular song Basket Case by Green Day in a London pub, when they were in for a surprise. The Green Day band's lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong suddenly made an appearance at the pub, and later crooned with the band on stage.

Social media videos and also a video posted on Green Day's YouTube channel show Kerry Glass from the Borderline Toxic move to the side, as Billie Joe Armstrong joins his band on stage. Kerry kept running around the stage in circles, until Billie urged her to sing with him.



"Eleven-year-old me panicked," Kerry, the lead singer of Borderline Toxic, told BBC Newsbeat, adding that Green Day was one of the first bands to influence her at 11 and that she used to sit in her bedroom and “listen to all their albums”. She further said that it took a minute for her to settle on stage with Billie, before she decided to "enjoy every single second of this".

Kerry also said she put her cell phone away, so she could experience the moment of singing with her idol. "I started getting a bit overwhelmed," she said. But post the performance, she has been on her "phone ever since" Green Day posted a clip of the stage performance on social media. Kerry said that her schoolmates and old friends got in touch with her after they saw the video of her with the Green Day singer. "That's been the nicest thing," she said.

Billie Joe Armstrong had said he would renounce his American citizenship and move to the UK in protest against changes to the US abortion laws in 2022.
