The world’s biggest marathon, called the Great North Run, will occur, as per the announcements made by the event organisers. They have ensured that this weekend, the marathon will be organised.
Around 10,000 people will participate in the marathon and raise an estimated 25 million pounds as charity donations. The company stated that it would be an appropriate tribute for the Queen, who served the people and her country till her very last breath. There would also be some restrained parts of the marathon to pay respects to the royal family.
Sir Brendan Foster, the founder of Great North Run, elaborated that they have decided to hold the marathon on Sunday and that the participants will remain respectful about the current situation and honour the Queen in times of remorse and sadness around the country.

Furthermore, the founder added that their motive is to pay tribute to the Queen and at the same time, they want the runners to enjoy the marathon while the circumstances are very sad and special too.

What number of people may join the marathon? There are tentatively more than 10,000 people, who will show their gratitude and pay respect to the Queen by participating in the run.
The half marathon that will take place has accepted an additional 3,000 runners.
The race has decided to be held from Newcastle and to South Shields, repeating the history of its own ‘city to sea course’, since 2019.
The organisers have also decided to cancel the Great North Five Thousand, which was supposed to take place on Friday evening. The Junior and Mini Great North Run have also been cancelled.
