Granit Xhaka strikes as Arsenal defeats Tottenham in Premier League match

With the appointment of Ralf Rangnick at Manchester United, the English Premier League sees its third German coach.

After the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Red Devils had to find a new coach and a better one, and they chose the inventor of ‘gegenpressing’

Rangnick joins fellow countrymen Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp in the league, who also happen to be coaches he has had a major tactical influence on.

Appointed to the Liverpool job in 2015, the former Dortmund man has lit up the league, winning the club its first Premier League title and another Champions League title

The mastermind behind a phenomenal Chelsea squad, he’s already won the Champions League for them in his first half season and is a favourite to win the league this year.

Hailed as one of football’s greatest minds, he was responsible for the rise of sides like Hoffenheim and RB Leipzig, clubs that are now top teams in the German league.

Of late, the league has seen a shift in tactics, with world football favouring the high tempo style that Rangnick pioneered.

The league has other managers too, who favour the high intensity style, like Austrian Ralph Hassenhuttl, who previously coached in Germany. Norwich also had a German coach - Daniel Farke - until his dismissal earlier this month.

The appointment of Rangnick is only the interim one, with the German set to coach United till the end of the season and then take up a consultant role with the club.
