Dr Mark McCarthy, head at the National Climate Information Centre at the Met Office's, has revealed that 2022 saw highest ever temperatures in the country breaking the previous records. With the mercury reading reaching its warmest, 40.3°C (104.5°F) in Lincolnshire on July 19, according to reports.

Provisional data indicates that the year's average temperature would surpass the previous all-time high of 9.88°C (49.78°F) set in 2014. The precise figure will be confirmed with the upcoming end of 2022.

According to the Met Office, all ten years with the highest annual temperature since 1884 occurred after 2002 suggesting a deeper issue. Even this year's four seasons were among the top 10 warmest in the UK, as per records. Winter being the eighth warmest, spring-fifth, summer- fourth and autumn-third.

Dr Mark McCarthy announced 2022 is going to be the warmest year recorded in the history of the UK. While many may recollect the outrageous intensity from this summer, what has been more pertinent is the general heat intensity prevailing all throughout the year, especially this December being hotter than normal.

He suggested that what is worse is the fact that a warm year is then set in line imposing a worse impact on human-life as expected from the human-induced climate change. Although it doesn't say that this will be the case each year, but as climate change continues to grow, the possibility can be much worse.

Dr McCarthy also remarked that the record-breaking temperatures of July 2022 almost boosted the overall temperature values for the year. It can be anticipated to grow further as an after-effect of Global Warming.

He talked about how the Met Office science has recorded that the temperatures witnessed during mid-July would’ve never been witnessed during the pre-industrial period, the era before humanity began emitting and creating greenhouse gasses.

However, he also added that the UK's climate is still subject to notable cold spells during the winter season since the observational data shows them to be less frequent and less severe as the climate warms.
