Ms. Catchpole, who shared two daughters, aged 15 and five, with the singer, was discovered deceased in her residence in Whitminster, Gloucester, on Friday.
In an official statement, Gloucestershire Constabulary reported: "Police responded to Whitminster in Gloucester at approximately 9:10 am on Friday, January 5, following concerns for the well-being of a resident. Officers arrived, and the body of a woman in her 40s was discovered within the premises. The death is currently deemed non-suspicious. The coroner and the woman's next of kin have been notified."
The couple, together for about two decades, initially met when Ms. Catchpole became a lodger in Morrison's mother's home.
Morrison had previously described their meeting as a "fairytale" and shared how he tried to impress her by serenading her with Stevie Wonder songs. The 39-year-old singer is renowned for hits like "You Give Me Something" and "Broken Strings," boasting four top 10 albums, including two number ones. In 2007, he also received the Brit Award for Best British Male.
In a 2015 interview with The Mail On Sunday, Morrison disclosed that he took a hiatus from music after experiencing the loss of his father, brother, and nephew within a span of three years.
