Following the reports of the public gunshot firing at the eastern city of Dresden, the German police announced on Twitter saying they had ended a hostage problem. However, the police haven't given any precise information.

Later in the afternoon, the German police took to social media to announce that they had controlled the hostage situation. The announcement came around 12:50 local time. Along with that, they added that two unharmed people were safe in their car. So far, it was not instantly sure whether the police had arrested the suspects.

A dead body was found in Dresden.

Later, the dead body of an older woman, reportedly 60 years of age, was also found near the area. Her son is the prime suspect, who is 40 years old. The Dresden police have not confirmed if the murder and the gunshot firing were related.

Dresden's Christmas market is ordered to remain closed until the police operation continues.
