English football legend Gary Lineker provided shelter to a person fleeing the military coup in Turkey and accused the Home Office of ill-treating the person. Gary Lineker alleged that the 26-year-old man from Turkey fleeing the military coup was mistreated by the Home Office. Gary Lineker had provided shelter during the person's stay in the UK. Though the young man was able to get to the UK and avoid eighteen months of incarceration in Turkey, the Home Office didn't give him the peace he deserved. Lineker says the experience was like 'hell'.

Gary Lineker, a famous presenter with the BBC and an erstwhile popular footballer in the UK, had come out on Twitter against Liz Truss, then the foreign secretary. The BBC hauled up Lineker for its impartiality rules being breached by Lineker. On the same day, Gary Lineker tweeted whether Liz Truss' party would hand back money her party received from Russian donors. On a tweet about boycotting the Premier League finals in Russia, Lineker posted his tweet as a counter-question.

Lineker plans to talk about LGBT rights during the World Cup in Qatar. In Qatar, homosexual behaviour attracts the death penalty.
