Gareth Bale, Welsh soccer star, announced his retirement from international football on Monday. He is Wales's most capped player and the country's all-time leading goal scorer.

Gareth Bale's professional career has taken him from Southampton to Real Madrid, Tottenham Hotspur, and eventually to Los Angeles FC. Born in Cardiff, Wales in 1989, Bale made his professional debut for Southampton at the age of 16 and quickly became known for his speed and skill on the field.

After making 45 appearances for Southampton and scoring five goals, Bale joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2007. Initially used as a left back, Bale struggled to find his footing with the club and did not win any of his first 24 league matches. However, with the help of manager Harry Redknapp, Bale began to thrive in an advanced position, scoring a memorable hat-trick in a Champions League match against Inter Milan and earning the PFA Player of the Year award.

In 2013, Bale made a high-profile transfer to Real Madrid, where he became a key player and helped lead the team to numerous victories. During his time at Real Madrid, Bale scored many memorable goals, including a stunning solo run in the Copa del Rey final against Barcelona and a hat-trick in the Champions League final against Liverpool. In addition to his club career, Bale has also represented the Welsh national team, becoming the country's all-time top scorer and helping them reach the semi-finals of the Euro 2016 tournament.

After a difficult final season with Real Madrid, Bale returned to Tottenham Hotspur on loan in 2020. He had a strong season with the club, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances, and in 2022 he signed a contract with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles FC. In his first season with LAFC, Bale helped lead the team to the MLS Cup, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the championship match against the Philadelphia Union.
