In a Paris metro station, a woman wearing a hijab was shot by French police on Tuesday, as reported by local media. Commuters at the scene claimed that her threatening behaviour led to this incident.

The woman reportedly threatened to detonate the subway, shouting phrases like "Allah Hu Akbar" and "You are all going to die."

The woman "defied police instructions" and made threats of "blowing herself", as reported by AFP.

The Paris prosecutor's office revealed that the French police fired a single shot resulting in a severe abdominal injury.

Based on her conduct, sources cited by broadcaster BFM TV and daily newspaper Le Parisien reported that the police were exploring the possibility of an Islamist "terrorist" motivation.

The incident occurred at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France station. To ensure public safety, the metro station was evacuated by the authorities.
