Paul Draper, a former vocalist for the Britpop band Mansun, has been charged with stalking Catherine Anne Davies, a.k.a. the Anchoress, and sending her and her manager, Sean Adams, 'abusive' communications.

After Mansun's death in 2003 effectively ended Draper's musical career, Davies invited him to sing on her debut record, Confessions of a Romance Novelist, released in 2016. She later assisted him in starting a solo career by co-writing songs for his 2017 album Spooky Action, which peaked at number 19 on the charts.

The Daily Mail reported that the relationship between the two began around the time of the partnership, was renewed in 2017, and ended in 2018. Magistrates in Guildford were informed of this relationship in November. Since then, Draper is said to have directed an ongoing campaign of emails, social media posts, and the like against Davies, according to barrister Kris Berlevy, appearing on behalf of Surrey police.

The messages, according to Berlevy, are broad and frequent.

He testified in court that police believed Draper had engaged in stalking-related behaviour and posed a risk; they claimed that 116 pages of evidence supported their claim.
