Controversial Tory MP Matt Hancock was paid £45,000 for participating in the reality show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Per media reports, that £45,000 was a fraction of the alleged £400,000 the former Home Secretary received as fees for taking part in I’m A Celebrity.

Hancock was heavily criticized by the Labour Party as well as the Tories for joining ITV’s I’m A Celebrity. The Conservative Party had his whip canceled, raising several questions about his political future. However, Hancock said that his stint at the show would help the party convey its message to the youth. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said that he was disappointed by the move. He was also suspended from the Conservative Party after failing to report for his duties, especially when the country was facing its worst economic and political turmoil in a long time.

The West Suffolk MP came in third after an eight-week struggle in the jungle, as his run ended last Sunday. The Channel 4 show Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins was filmed before Hancock flew to Australia for I’m A Celebrity, but it would be released next year. BBC reported that Hancock had joined the cast of Celebrity SAS during former PM Liz Truss’s regime.
