Former floor director Mark Traub remembered following death due to leukemia complications

The Today Show's anchors, on December 7, honoured the national news series' floor director Mark Traub after he passed away from Leukemia at the age of 64. Traub officially took retirement from the position in 2019 after working as the stage manager for 35 years. Anchors Hoda Kotb, Dylan Dreyer, Savannah Guthrie, Sheinelle Jones, and Craig Melvin paid tribute to Traub.

While announcing the news, 58-year-old Kotb said that Traub was 64 years old and died of Leukemia. Kotb stated that Traub was a member of the Today family. She also said that the floor director was "the heart and soul" of the show.

Savannah Guthrie detailed Traub's behind-the-scenes job at NBC. The 50-year-old anchor said that Traub was a "world traveller" and knew much about almost everything. Guthrie added that the floor director was a "lifelong" Yankees and Giants fan and a movie buff.

When Traub took retirement in 2019, he explained how important and special Today was to him. He had said that the show had been his home for two-thirds of his life. Traub had also stated about his retirement plans. He jokingly said that he was going to learn how to sleep.
