A former banker named Jake Kaine, who is 36, was detained after police discovered a tent in his spare bedroom. He and his buddies had grown massive amounts of the hallucinatory psychedelic substance.
Police discovered a load of magic mushrooms worth around £6,000 during the operation, along with numerous jars and test tubes holding the drug's components.
It was found that Kaine, a master in research microbiology from Liverpool University, had been producing the drug for his own use and selling the excess to others.
In addition, they discovered a large tent set up to grow magic mushrooms and 120 diazepam tablets. The cost of diazepine ranges from £120 to £240.
According to Morris, Kaine informed police during his interview that he was a scientist, who wanted to try consuming magic mushrooms to help with his mental health. He first learned how to produce them before purchasing the necessary materials from stores and online.
