Former British footballer, Trevor Sinclair, is in the news for the wrong reasons. He has attracted negative publicity after he tweeted his opinion about the Queen's death.

What did Sinclair tweet?

Sinclair took to Twitter and posted that England outlawed racism in 1960. However, Queen Elizabeth allowed the stigma to flourish. As such, brown and black people of England should not grieve the Queen's passing.

The backlash

Following his tweet, many social media users rose to the Queen's defense and slammed Trevor Sinclair for his comment. While one user expressed disbelief and disgust over his tweet, many scolded him for expressing his beliefs on a social platform.

Ricky Martin tweeted back, stating that Sinclair's comments were embarrassing. He advised Sinclair to bow his head in shyness and hand over his hats to the country for the tweet. Martin added that Sinclair might have tweeted his critique to generate clickbait when the nation was mourning.

Other social media users demanded Sinclair's removal as a TalkSPORT analyst. TalkSPORT issued a public statementagainst the demands stating that it is investigating the matter. The company added that it was trying to contact Trevor Sinclair and did not support Sinclair's views and opinions.
