Kyle has been on the bench since the end of the last season after Pep Guardiola switched to a 3-2-4-1 formation. Though Kyle has been an important asset for the club since he signed in 2017 and has won five Premier League titles and the Champions Trophy, he is 33 years old, and he is left with only one year with him. Manchester City have also signed Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea and they want to take centre-back Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig.

Pavard made his football debut with Lillee in League 1 and then moved to VfB Stuttgart in 2016. He won two Bundesliga trophies in the first season and moved to Bayern Munich in 2019.
