According to a research study that was published in the journal BMJ Open Ophthalmology, COVID symptoms can also have an impact on our eyes and appear as a variety of eye-related symptoms.The researchers employed structured questionnaires to collect self-reported data from 83 participants, including patients who tested positive for COVID. The research team discovered that eye-related COVID symptoms are most common.

The research institute further stated that conjunctivitis does not have the same impact as painful eyes. The term "conjunctivitis" is too broad, they continued, and should only be used sparingly.
