First wild bison born in UK in thousands of years after 'unexpected' pregnancy. This is what happened
For the first time in thousands of years, a wild bison has been born in the UK following a surprising pregnancy. The new born was delivered in Kent forest.

The new born, who can be seen walking around in the wild, is the first in numerous years. The emergence of the adorable calf surprised rangers in-charge of a landmark initiative that has seen a herd of European bison settle in West Blean and Thornden Woods near Canterbury.
The birth was completely unexpected due to the mammals' ability to display no evident indications of pregnancy - and the fact that there is no bull among the herd. The female, who travelled over from Ireland, would have been pregnant before arriving in Kent in July.
According to ranger Tom Gibbs, it is difficult to identify pregnancy in bison as they naturally conceal it to avoid being hunted by predators. It's a defense mechanism.
