Is the ledger stone renewed?

The ledger stone is a new hand-made Belgian black marble block on which the names of Queen Elizabeth II, her husband, Prince Philip, her mother Elizabeth, and father George VI are inscribed. The newly made ledger stone has been placed on the floor of King George Memorial Chapel, a part of St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. All four royals, members of the Order of Garter, are buried on the same floor.

The ashes of Princess Margaret are also buried in the same chapel; however, the ledger does not include her name. The earlier ledger stone featured only the names of the Queen's mother and father.

Will the general masses be allowed to visit Queen's burial site?

The King George VI Memorial Chapel is located on the north side of the building and was commissioned by the Queen in 1969 as the burial ground for her late father, George VI. He was initially laid to rest in the Royal Vault before being shifted to the chapel. The site will be open to the public starting Thursday next week, and the people can pay their respects to Queen Elizabeth II. However, Sundays will be closed for the general masses as the day is reserved only for worshippers.

Prince Philip and Princess Margaret were also rested in the same Vault and later moved to the memorial. George Pace designed the king George VI Memorial, and the construction finished in 1969.
