First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon says Ash Regan never approached to express concerns after Community Safety Minister resigns

Ash Regan resigned from the post of Minister for Community Safety of Scotland on Thursday. First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon faced a massive revolt from her MSPs over the contentious proposals, with nine Nats refusing to support the SNP/Green administration.
In the cold letter to Ash Regan, Nicola Sturgeon wrote that the former has never approached her to express her concerns regarding the Gender Recognition Reform Bill or the vote.

This comes as Regan was among 15 SNP politicians, who signed a letter to the Scottish Government in 2019, warning about the risk of allowing biological men to self-identify as women.


Joining her was MSPs Kenneth Gibson and Ruth Maguire, Christine Grahame and Joan McAlpine, a former MSP. Angus Macneil, Carol Monaghan, Patricia Gibson, Joanna Cherry, and four senior SNP councillors also put their names in the letter.


The letter said that confusion between sex and gender identification has ramifications for policy and service delivery in various areas, including data gathering, health, education, social care, justice, and sport. Changing the definitions of male and female is extremely important and is not something to be taken lightly.
