Martin Lewis, who is famous in Britain for his money-saving advice and financial planning, has come out strongly against the government.
He believes that the "zombie government" should immediately come out of its deep slumber and ignorance of the people's concerns. He says that what is needed now is deep planning for the winter and how the government will help the citizens cope with the imminent hike in energy prices.
The prices have already shot up mainly due to the war in Ukraine and global cues on energy prices worldwide. The annual average household expenditure on energy is already up from £3,359 predicted in the first week of this month.
It is currently at £3,582. From January 2023, it is expected to hit a new high of £4,266 and then onto £4,427 in April. When you compare the hike to the prediction for April 2023, it was £3,729.
Millions of people in the country can't even comprehend this high amount, leave alone to pay for it. If this is not addressed this very minute, the people will face a hard time in the winters, and many homes won't have any heating.
Cornwall Insight, financial analysts in the UK, has predicted a grim future in the coming winter, and £ 3,582 is a considerable sum for most families to pay. Now with predictions hitting the £ 4000 bracket, it is unthinkable about the kind of winter the general population would face.

This, in reality, obliterates the £400 government support planned for the general population and far exceeds the £1200 support for the poorest of poor, which constitute about 8 million households.
Martin states that the government's response to the energy hike for the poor is like a tiny sticking plaster for a gaping wound.
The leaders, who are busy debating Britain's leadership issues, cannot avoid this issue. The leaders also need to discuss this as it might catapult the problem into a huge issue this winter.

Scientists point out that this early warm weather is not a cause for celebration, but for serious concern. It could potentially pose risks for wildlife.

Earlier flowering could increase the risk of frost damage and also threaten insects, birds and other wildlife that depend on the flowering of certain plants at specific times of the growing season. That's what scientists fear.

How did they find out the huge difference in flowering dates? Researchers led by Ulf Buentgen, a Cambridge University geography professor, scoured more than 419,000 recordings of first flowering dates of 406 plant species between 1753 and 2019. They also compared them with historical temperature records which have shown the climate getting warmer.

If the changes had been at uniform pace it wouldn't have been so much cause for concern. Some parts of the ecosystem are more sensitive and are responding quickly, whereas others are much slower.

Martin requests that all the Conservative party leaders unite to find a solution to the problem for the general public. How the leadership plans to solve this emerging problem needs to be seen in the coming days.
