BBC Sport football expert Chris Sutton has made accurate predictions of the FIFA World Cup 2022 for Germany’s games against Japan and Spain. However, the former English player’s other predictions haven’t been as accurate. He could get his predictions of the second round of the group stage right only six times, significantly lower than his 12 correct predictions during the first 16 matches.

World Cup predictions have been quite popular in recent editions of the world’s biggest sports tournament. It became even more popular when Paul the Octopus was employed to predict the outcomes of Germany’s matches in the 2010 World Cup. In the Group B game between Wales and England, he picked England to win 3-0 and predicted a draw between Iran and USA.
