The teenager bagged the place due to Timo Werner's injury and apparent absence from the World Cup.
Niclas Fullkrug of Werder Bremen, who has scored ten goals in the current Bundesliga season and Armel-Bella Kotchap playing for Southampton, has also finalised their berths in the squad.
The squad also has Mario Gotze from Eintracht Frankfurt, who was away from the national team for five years and made the cut for the World Cup Squad. It was Gotze who shot Germany's winning goal in the 2014 finals. Coach Flick is especially ecstatic about Gotze's return.
The notable players missing this World Cup in Qatar are Marco Reus, Dortmund Captain and Mats Hummels, the defender due to injury. Reus lost out in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil due to injury; sadly, he missed out again. The coach was particular about mentioning Reus's absence again, which Germany would undoubtedly miss.
The team flies to Oman for their warm-up match, after which they will fly to Qatar for their match with Japan.
