Anne Sacoolas has been sentenced to eight months in prison for killing teenager Harry Dunn due to careless driving. The teenage motorcyclist rode opposite Sacoolas as she drove on the wrong side of a two-lane B4031 on Northamptonshire Road. She did not attend the hearing once the US officials stepped in and was sentenced in an unprecedented case. She is a former spy for the United States. She left the United Kingdom in August 2019 and claimed diplomatic immunity after the collision in front of RAF Croughton, the US military base.

As It Happened

The parents of the deceased teenagers waited for a torturous three years for justice to be served. Sacoolas pleaded guilty to killing the teenager through a video meeting earlier in October. While she will be sent to prison, she is also not allowed to drive for 12 months. The judge did not like that Sacoolas did not personally attend the meeting. Reports suggest that the US officials warned her to fly to the United Kingdom on sentencing. It was because her return could put US interests in jeopardy.
