Everton sacks manager Frank Lampard following run of 11 defeats in 14 matches

On Monday, Everton sacked manager Frank Lampard after the club lost 2-0 against West Ham and is now in the 19th spot in Premier League. Lampard’s dismissal came as Everton owner Farhad Moshiri attended his first match since October 2021 when the club faced defeat by West Ham at the London Stadium which was also their third consecutive loss in Premier League.

Frank Lampard, the former boss at Chelsea, arrived at Goodison Park in January 2022. While he managed to help Everton in avoiding the drop in 2022, he is now leaving the team with just 15 points in 20 games and three wins this season. This term, Everton has also witnessed the worst victory record in its division. At 19th position, Everton is only above Southampton on goal difference.



On Saturday, following Everton’s alarming descent into the relegation zone, Moshiri left the stadium and even claimed that the decision to remove Lampard was not his to make. As per reports, Everton’s board met to discuss the team’s situation and on Monday, Lampard was informed that he was being removed from the position.

Lampard was able to oversee only one win in Everton’s last 12 Premier League matches and questions about his future first emerged after the club’s defeat by Wolves on Boxing Day. Lampard, who had replaced Rafael Benítez, had a win ratio worse than any other permanent Everton manager except Mike Walker.

With Lampard’s departure from Everton, the total number of managers sacked under Moshiri’s ownership has mounted to six in almost seven years.
