Talking about the bid by Liverpool, Cllr Harry Doyle, Liverpool cabinet member for culture and visitor economy and Council's cabinet assistant mayor, said that they were delighted to submit a bid to host the competition in 2023.
He added that hosting such a major event on such short notice would be difficult and would require creative planning. However, he believes Liverpool will be the perfect place to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. He said that he looks forward to seeing whether Liverpool has been successful in going through to the next stage of the selection process.

The UK has been given a chance for the ninth time to host the Eurovision. This time on behalf of Ukraine as Russia has invaded the country. Their entrant, Samy Ryder was the runner-up in the competition in 2022.
