Patients may experience delays in non-urgent care as many NHS operations and consultations are likely to be postponed if the strikes continue. However, this will not impact Emergency medical care.

After the Scottish government restarted NHS wage negotiations, the RCN decided to take a break from making strike announcements. However, as the living costs constraints rise, dedicated nurses are asking for salary increases of 5% over inflation.

According to the government's proposal, the basic annual salary will increase by barely 4%, from around £35,600 to £37,000, starting in March 2022.

According to RCN general secretary Pat Cullen, Nursing staff are tired of being taken for granted, receiving little pay and hazardous staffing levels, and unable to provide our patients with the care they require.

Labour's Wes Streeting criticised Health Secretary Steve Barclay for not speaking with the nurses. The government allows this to happen even though patients struggle to receive timely care. Patients won't ever pardon the Conservatives for their carelessness.

Barclay argued that the nurses' pay requests were impossible to afford. His top focus is keeping patients safe. The NHS has tried-and-true plans to minimise disruption and guarantee the continuation of emergency services. This winter, over a million NHS employees—including midwives, ambulance drivers, and physiotherapists—are being balloted for strike action.
