Emergency escape solution? Reports say that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bought Portugal home to escape Trump's presidency

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly purchased a home in Portugal as an emergency escape solution due to concerns about Donald Trump's presidency and the potential impact on Harry's US citizenship.

In order to have an emergency escape solution when President-elect Donald Trump takes office, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly purchased a luxurious pad in Portugal.

Approximately 81 miles south of Lisbon, the 722-acre CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club is a luxurious development where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are said to have lavished their money on one of 300 soon-to-be-built homes, as quoted in a report by The New York Post.

Trump's intense distaste for the Sussexes has sent them into a tailspin and compelled them to reevaluate their options.

If Trump decides to get involved with Harry's citizenship, the wheels could really come off for Harry and Meghan, which is why they have purchased overseas. They required a backup plan. However, things aren't always easy for Harry and the 43-year-old Suits alum.

The two must overcome a significant obstacle before they can fully enjoy their new life in Portugal, that is, obtaining EU citizenship. The couple would be able to travel freely throughout the Schengen Area, which spans 29 countries and more than 1.7 million square miles if they were granted such citizenship.

They bought the expansive property in Europe because life in the US did not turn out to be what they thought it would be, according to an exclusive report published by The Post earlier this month.

Trump may reject Harry's application for US citizenship because he is currently embroiled in a legal battle over his immigration status.

In his memoir "Spare," Harry admitted to taking illegal drugs, which would be grounds for his visa application to be rejected. The Heritage Foundation conservative think tank has sought Harry's visa records, arguing that the second son of King Charles III and the late Princess Diana could not have legally entered the US due to his drug use.

A judge has since ruled that Harry's visa application will remain private.

He has always spoken fondly of the late monarch and criticized President Biden's administration for being too gracious to the Sussexes since the duo made their trans-Atlantic move to the US.
