A protestor, who was detained after eggs were thrown at the King Charles III during his York visit, has been released on bail, according to police. During the royal visit, the 23-year-old was detained on Wednesday on charges of violating the peace.
A protester began booing King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla before throwing four eggs at them, while local authorities were welcoming the couple to the city. Officers asserted that a "well-rehearsed" security arrangement had been set up for the visit in order to ensure the safety of the royal couple.
When the royals waved to spectators on the city's Micklegate Bar, the King was merely barely spared. "God save the King" and "shame on you" were chanted by the audience, who also booed.
A security guard in suit stood next to the King and temporarily gripped his shoulder while the eggs were being tossed. The King almost trod in one of the eggs, but he didn't seem alarmed and kept going.
