Eddie Izzard's attempt to become Labour MP fails
Eddie Izzard's attempt to win the Labour Party's nomination to represent Sheffield Central in the legislature was unsuccessful. The selection, according to human rights attorney Mohamed, was the greatest honour of her life.

Human rights attorney Mohamed called her selection the tremendous honour of her life. She will replace Paul Blomfield with a majority of 27,273. Izzard claimed to have faced a "torrent of transphobic abuse" since declaring her candidacy in an interview with the Guardian in October. At a campaign event in September, a feminist who is gender critical tweeted a picture of Izzard exiting the women's restroom with a severe sarcastic caption.
Izzard claimed that 98 percent of people she encountered in Sheffield wished her luck and that she only faced abuse from a "vocal minority." Two years ago, Izzard declared that she had adopted the pronouns "she" and "her." Izzard told the Guardian she did not mind being called "he/him." Despite claiming to be better qualified to represent the constituency than a "supercharged local councillor" because "their activism has been local and my activism has been national and international," Izzard was the only candidate on the shortlist who did not reside in Sheffield. She began an accounting degree in Sheffield in the 1980s before quitting to focus on a comedic career. She has been a member of the Labour party since 1995. Although she currently resides in London, she had previously committed to relocating to Sheffield.
