For those who grew up witnessing the absolutely mental Attitude Era, Jim Ross was the electrifying voice that made everything seem dramatic and chaotic. It was Ross that single-handedly made “the Texas Rattle Snake” a defining term for Steve Austin. However, after decades of successful association, Jim Ross and WWE parted ways in 2018 after the legendary commentator joined AEW.

During a podcast with a media outlet, EC3, the former Impact Wrestling, and NXT star, said what changed between Ross and WWE. As per reports, other than donning the iconic cowboy hat while commentating on the shows, Ross also served as the Vice President of Talent Relations. Thus, he was responsible for engaging with the company’s top performers.

EC3 (Michael Hutter) noted during the podcast that he had heard several success stories about his role in talent management. He added that Ross loved the job and was very effective in what he did. However, as rumors have it, JR was not comfortable being a part-time commentator and wanted to continue play-by-play commentary, which is why he left the company.

Jim Ross is arguably the greatest commentator pro wrestling has ever seen. The outrageous, over-aggressive, and phenomenal period of the WWE, which featured the top brass like The Undertaker, Kane, Steve Austin, The Rock, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Mankind, was further amplified by Ross’s out-of-this-world commentary.

And Ross was also a tough nut and would often end up in on-screen feuds with the likes of Triple H, Mr. McMahon, and The Undertaker. During the recent podcast, EC3 also said that he had asked Ross whether he had any critiques for his pay-per-view performance. Ross being the man he is, offered an honest and fair assessment of EC3’s performance.
