Gillian Wright, an EastEnders actor, had surgery after breaking her wrist in a terrible tumble during this week's pantomime performance. The 62-year-old has expressed her "devastation" at having to leave her gig after just one night to fans.
Despite wearing a sling, Gillian made it through Snow White's opening night at Chatham's Central Theatre. However, she is now unable to continue. The actress was called a "soldier" by Chris Jordan, managing director of Jordan Productions, for persisting.
He also stated that: "In a sling and some discomfort, Gill made it through the final week of rehearsals and the pantomime's opening night. They were all astonished to learn that the break was more severe than we had anticipated after learning about the degree of the injury only after she had recovered from surgery. While they all regret that Gill can't rejoin the programme, they hope she has a rapid recovery over the coming weeks and offers their love to her. Obviously, Gill's health and wellbeing are of first priority.
