Duke of Edinburgh title: King Charles III gets blasted as Prince Edward misses out on ‘wedding gift’

As King Charles intends to narrow down the monarchy, Prince Edward would not be succeeding his father as the Duke of Edinburgh now.

Around 23 years ago, in an official statement from Buckingham Palace, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie were promised the future title as a gift on their wedding day.

On Prince Philip's death in 2021 (then prince, now King), Charles inherited the title of Duke of Edinburgh.

Around 10,135 people participated in the poll, out of which a whopping 94% of them answered positively to the question.

Several people thought King Charles should be honoring his parents' wish, who had promised Prince Edward the Dukedom of Edinburgh.

The people also lauded Prince Edward and Sophie for their hard work and dedication towards the royal family.
